Meet the Team

Tania Fotheringhame

Director

Tania has an extensive background in retail starting from her own boutique in 1980. She moved into the banking and hospitality sectors for a few years before returning to retail for an iconic Australian company known for its Australian-made boots and country clothing.

In more recent times her experiences took her to corporate retail for a large department store and then on to a State and Regional position for a national retail chain where she was responsible for WA, SA and NT.

Tania is now looking forward to sharing her experiences and knowledge with small business owners in WA through the various support programs and initiatives offered by the Business Growth Centre.

Jennifer Than-Htay

Manager, Business Growth

Passionate about small business, Jennifer loves to see people succeed and bring their ideas to fruition. Having moved into the small business sector from a corporate background she understands the dedication and diversity of small business owners.

Her Bachelor of Commerce specialises in entrepreneurship, business innovation and marketing, and has allowed her to investigate different aspects of business and industry. Testing her own abilities, knowledge and skills, Jennifer has successfully run small businesses over the past 10 years, a number of which she has created from concept to start-up, growth, expansion and sale.

Jennifer believes in thinking outside the box, and that just about all problems can be solved.


Angelique Fransen

Manager, Business Growth

Angelique brings 20 years of experience in the small business and tourism industries to Business Growth Centre along with well established industry relationships. Working with the tourism and Aboriginal economic development industry for the past 11 years, Angelique has gained extensive knowledge of the various businesses across W.A., from developing businesses to long established enterprises and certainly understands the challenges and opportunities within this industry sector.

Owning her own successful small business for the past four years, Angelique is looking forward to working with the small business sector in Western Australia. She will be looking after the Tourism, Aboriginal Mentoring and Migrant Portfolios. She also has a Diploma in Small Business Management.


Sergiu Muntean

Small Business Consultant

Sergiu has an extensive background in sales and account management including retail, recruitment and more recently training and development. Having owned a small business in the past he understands some of the difficulties encountered by small business owners and can relate on many levels. He has also completed a Cert IV in Small Business Management. Sergiu is looking forward to bringing his knowledge and experience in various industries to work on developing strong relationships with small business owners across a variety of sectors.

 

Barbara Thompson

Regional small Business Consultant

Barbara has experience as a Tourism Centre Manager, working in manufacturing and retail industry sectors as well both as an owner/operator and in a franchise environment.  She has worked extensively in the Midwest Gascoyne as a Small Business Field Officer and has delivered a number of high profile projects such as the Light Industry Project on waste management.  Barbara has been driving a new initiative as the Outback Business Network Development Officer with Desert Knowledge Australia.
She has served as an executive board member and has been involved as a judge for the Midwest Business Excellence Awards over the past 4 year.

 

Rebecca Waugh

Regional Small Business Consultant

Rebecca is our Regional Business Consultant for the BCG Albany office, working closely with the Great Southern Businesses. Rebecca has personal experience working in small business, having owned an award winning business’s of her own along with serving as an Executive Member of the Albany Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Rebecca holds a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, Diploma of Tourism Management, Marketing & Event Management. Rebecca is looking forward to bringing her knowledge and experience in various industries to work on developing strong relationships with small business owners across a variety of sectors.

 

Justine Thomson

Regional Small Business Consultant

Justine looks after our Goldfield's businesses. She has a background in family business and tourism the tourism industry.

As a resident of the area since 1998, she understands the specific needs and challenges these businesses face.

 Her personal experience in business includes working in the family business in Kalgoorlie for the past 10 years. She is of the problems with cash flow, and all other potential risk factors of keeping your business afloat in these economic times. Not to mention the dynamics of a husband and wife working together.

Angela Lourens

Office Administrator

Angela is the face of the office. She is the face-to-face contact and the voice on the phone. Angela looks after all the day-to-day running of the office, handling enquiries, organising the Business Growth Centre Events, and keeping the staff organised.

Her background as an administrator and registrar has extended over the last 10 years. She is passionate about her role as an Administrator and enjoys communicating and assisting clients. Angela brings enthusiasm and great team spirit to the Business Growth Centre.
