Green Business Skills
“Going Green” is a term we hear frequently. But just what does this mean to small businesses? Research has shown small businesses would like to be become more sustainable but simply don’t know where to start or what is involved.
Small businesses make up 96% of all businesses in Australia. Individually they have a minor impact, however collectively small businesses have a large environmental impact.
The Green Business Skills program assists businesses to become more environmentally aware. Our advisors offer practical, industry-specific advice to show business how easy it can be to implement better work habits. This in turn can save energy, reduce costs and increase profitability, often referred to as the “triple bottom line”.
The triple bottom line is a term used to measure the company’s impact on the environment, divided into economic, environmental and social segments. In essence it reflects an increase in the business’s value including profitability and shareholder returns, and its social, human and environmental impact. Our aim is to help business increase their triple bottom line.
The Green Business Skills Program will help business:
- Recognise good practices and offer suggestions for improvement
- Implement better recycling strategies
- Find more efficient use of energy
- Increase their marketability as a green business
- Keep ahead of government legislation and incentives
- Access environmental resources
